School Has Begun

Well, Dear Friends,

I am truly blessed that as of today there are 2084 view of this blog. I am truly excited to report, that by the grace of God, I was able to get through Pastoral Care and Counseling in the 94 Percentile (class average was 87.7) I share this because I am completely blown away at the work of the Holy Spirit. If I took this class even last year, I would have given up and said forget it, I must have missed God. However, in this class, I had a drive, not my own, or an outside influence, but a God thing. I would catch myself praying "Lord, I am so tired of all this, I really want to give up". But the image of Jesus Christ on the cross would come into my mind, with a gentle voice, "But I didn't give up."

After pondering what I have seen and heard, I would laugh and say, this class is a cake walk compared to what Jesus went through. I can handle a few weeks of struggling, because I will not give up either.

I have been revisiting my calling and have discovered something. I may have said this before, but I believe I need to say it again.

God who is sovereign and Holy calls whom God desires to serve Him in ministry. I recently started working with another congregation recently. The Pastor is a soon to be retired Postal Employee. He has told me on a number of occasions that he is sure that a college graduate could probably take his notes for a sermon, and preach circles around him.

The one thing I had to say, in response is that God calls whom He calls, and God equips those He calls for the ministry He has for them. The great thing is that God will never give us more than we can handle, and the reality that God calls and we answer, tells Him that we are ready to do the work. We may not feel to confident in our ability, but it is not our abilities we need to be relying on. We need to rely on Jesus Christ and His abilities. It is in the abilities of Jesus Christ that we achieve excellence.
